The War on Predators
A
recent article in Counter punch by
George Wuerthner "The War on Predators"; here is my reply. I
have
no idea if the writer well answer me but I thought my readers would
like to see the truth for a change.Dear George as a trapper, wilderness survival instructor and documentary film maker I find your article full of many misconception, myths and fairy tales. From your article you stated. "Some scientists have even postulated that wolves may ameliorate the effects of climate change on scavenger species by providing carrion throughout the year."
Climate change oh yes you forgot to mention the fact the name had to be changed from Global Warming to Climate change. This is all base on false science and the ever ending quest to control free Americans and force them all into cities like good little slaves. Sounds crazy doesn't it I know but let us look at the fact shall we.

"In the past year, more than 650 scientists from around the world have expressed their doubts. That's 12 times the number of UN IPCC global warming alarmists. Top that with the fact that more than 31,000 American scientists have signed a petition saying there is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing disruption of the Earth's climate. "
You see George you have to dig deep to find the truth what is the master plan on Global Warming sorry I mean climate change. You see these people expect the American people to be so gullible and forgetful that will not notice the name change. When you have to play such childish games of changing the name due to the fact that 90% of the thinking adults in America clearly were no longer falling for the lie of global warming you should investigate why the fraud not promote the fraud.
From your article you stated "The presence of a large predator has a cascading effect on all other predators as well. For instance, the present of wolves results in fewer coyotes. Since coyotes are among the major predators on pronghorn fawns, presence of wolves, has led to higher pronghorn fawn survival."
That is too funny I notice you forgot to mention calf survival rate of elk with wolves in the area. You know that little fact that in the first scientific study in Yellowstone Park proved without a doubt that wolves were in fact wiping out the elk. Calf survival rate in most wolf area was 0-10% any hunter that has ever read any studies on most species would know for a fact that you must have 20% calf survival rate just to maintain the herd. This study was quickly covered up and buried and the corrupt USFWS did a new study the following year to blame bears on the elk decline. A real investigated reporter would have uncovered this fact.
From your article you stated Since younger animals are less experienced hunters, they are more likely to attack livestock than older, mature predators. (Young animals are more likely in rare instances, to even attack people. Nearly all mountain lion attacks are by immature animals.)
Again you showing your complete lack of knowledge in predators. All predators must be taught to fear man. This was solved for decades with allowing hound hunting. With a 30% success rate of Mt Lion hunted the other 70% surviving Mt Lion quickly learn to avoid humans, livestock and dogs. It is a very effect society protection system that has a proven track record. But because of misinformed voters many western state ban hound hunting. In each and ever state the Mt. Lion quickly lost their fear of man in the end results was human attacks and deaths. A 12 year boy attack in Ca, A brave grand mother sacrificing her life to save her grand daughter in Oregon, Numerous attacks in Washington state and of course the Young mother jogger that was slaughter near Denver. You should read the Beast in the Garden for more details of all the attack on people.
The main fact you miss on Mt Lion is that they have huge hunting territory and the young are driven out of the parents territory and must establish their own . With no hunting their population is out of control leaving the young males with little choice but to head for small towns and attack people. With proper hound hunting and yes Predator control this would never happen.
From your article you stated Human hunting has other long term genetic consequences as well. As was recently reported in PNAS, sustained human hunting has led to universally smaller animals, as well as other suspected genetic impacts that may affect their long-term viability.
This pathetic theory has been around since the 70's you would think after 40 years of being exposed as a falsehood that no one would even fall for this junk science today but sadly I see you bring this up again. One would only have to check with Boone and Crockett to see amazing facts that almost each and every year new record deer elk moose are shot. Proving that the animals are strong healthy and in fact growing larger. You should have check with Boone Crockett before you so easily fell for the anti hunting line.
From your article you stated I find little good scientific support for any predator management. Predator populations will not grow indefinitely. They are ultimately limited by their prey. Leaving predators to self-regulate seems to be the best management option available.
I also suggestion you pick up a copy of Will Graves book Wolves in Russia this book clearly proves the false hood of protecting predators over the good of ranchers, wildlife and humans. Yes you will quickly learn the false hood that wolves balance nature.
I could go on and on and on about the truth on predators but is it worth my time? Are you willing to tell your readership the truth back by science?

In closing George I do wish you would inform your readers of the truth about predators. I did not even get into the facts about what happens to predators when man no longer controls them and the slow painful suffering they go through. Then you will not see a predator population for 10-12 years as the diseases have so wipe them out. But with Predator control you will see a healthy eco system and predator population. Be so kind to let your readers see the whole story.

For our readers, I would also bring up the point of the Alaskan aerial hunts. The caribou herd was in dangerous low calf survival rate in 2006 and in 2007 the calf survival rate was 1 per 100 female caribou. The aerial hunt strictly regulated was only open in 5 parts of Alaska 26 hunting areas. Not just anyone could do it but approved pilots and a special license hunters. They only thin out 168 wolves. Now if this predator control work would be proven in the 2008 calf survey in the area. Guess what the survival rate of the calves skyrocket up to 39 calves per 100 female caribou which is more normal range. The wolves are still in the area and are now in balance with the prey species.
Of all the problems this country has from high unemployment, to factory pack up move over seas to illegal immigration, why is predator control even an issue for the Main Stream Press? Because it is easy distraction from the real issues. It gives the public an area to focus their energy on and not on the real problems.
